If you are bullied, you probably\u00a0know how hard it is to stand up for yourself.\u00a0 Even if you aren\u2019t bullied, when someone says something harsh about you, you don\u2019t quite know what to do.\u00a0 Even if it is just advocating so that you can move to a different place in class, if it means anything at all to you, ask!<\/p>\n

By standing up for yourself, or advocating, you never use \u201ccome-backs\u201d or shoot back an insult.\u00a0 That encourages arguments and fights.\u00a0 We all know that never ends well.\u00a0 If you are standing up against a classmate, and they say something rude about you, stay calm and reply something like, \u201cHey, that was pretty messed up.\u00a0 Please don\u2019t talk to me like that. I don\u2019t talk to you like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

If that doesn\u2019t end well, you should stop hanging out or being around that person.\u00a0 If you are in the same class, tell the teacher.\u00a0 When you talk to the teacher, be polite and reasonable.\u00a0 Tell her what you would like, and if it doesn\u2019t work out, offer to make a compromise.<\/p>\n

Today at school, I wanted to play violin for my class, but I was too afraid to ask.\u00a0 I seriously regretted it later because I worked so hard on the song.\u00a0 Part of being a Linchpin is standing up for yourself and advocating.\u00a0 Trust me, if you can stand up for yourself, you will always have an advantage.\u00a0 Be strong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
